3.2.8 Model of Relational Leadership
Purpose
The Relational Leadership Model examines leader-subordinate relationship dynamics and behaviors influenced by leader-member exchange (LMX). The model offers insights into leader-subordinate dynamics based on four constructs:
The leader’s perception of the trustworthiness of the subordinate
The subordinate’s perception of how much the leader trusts in him/her
The leader’s perception of how much the subordinate trusts in him/her
The subordinate’s perception of the trustworthiness of the leader
Description
The instrument was developed by Holly H. Brower from Butler University, F. David Schoorman from Purdue University, and Hwee Hoon Tan from the National University of Singapore. The instrument draws upon the Relational Leadership Model, combining leader-member exchange (LMX) and interpersonal trust. No reliability of validity is reported in the leadership scholarship database.
