5.2.2 Work Group Inclusion Scale, Chung et al. (2020)
Purpose
Drawn on Shore et al. (2011) conceptual definition of inclusion, the Work Group Inclusion Scale by Chung et al. (2020) aims to fill a gap in the literature by testing the validity of that model and advancing knowledge of the antecedents and outcomes of inclusion by integrating belongingness and uniqueness.
Description
This study was conducted in three phases, comprising three independent samples of full-time employees, including one sample with multisource data. Phase 1 demonstrates content validity, Phase 2 verifies convergent validity, discriminant validity, and incremental validity. Phase 3 criterion validity was tested mediated by multilevel relationships between inclusion and antecedent and outcomes. Overall, the three phases of the study demonstrated the factor structure, reliability, and validity of the work group inclusion measure. Meanwhile, it also offers a theoretical model of the construct for the implications at both individual and organizational levels.
