5.2.3 Inclusive Leadership Scale, Northouse (2021)

Purpose

The purpose of the Inclusive Leadership Scale is to measure individuals’ belonging and uniqueness within their immediate work environment (Northouse, 2021).

Description

The 30-item scale covers a range of leader-follower interactions, including one-on-one, teams (as leader), teams (as facilitator), teams (as participant), and mentor/protégé. A score ranging from 0-9 indicates high qualities of inclusiveness, a score ranging from 10-19 indicates opportunities of improvement, and a score ranging from 20-30 indicates that participants are not aware of the importance of inclusiveness or lack motivation to pursue inclusiveness. This low score can warn management to address these issues. This instrument has yet to be tested empirically.
